History of Ch Shelt-E-Ain Reflection O'Knight ROM
Ch Shelt-E-Ain Reflection O'Knight ROM was bred by Tobi Ain. He was a tricolor, whelped January 4, 1950, by Ch Shelt-E-Ain Black Knight ex Shelt-E Ain Lucky Penny. While his pedigree appears to have a lot of line-breeding on non-Champions, the lack of titles does not in this case appear to indicate lack of quality. Mary van Wagenen's comments on Indigo of Pocono, Pirouette and Little Sir Echo appear in the 1977-1978 ASSA Handbook, and are generally positive. Certainly the Ladies of Sea Isle were not bothered by very similar breeding behind Nashcrest Rhythm, the dam of Ch Nashcrest Golden Note ROM. In fact, Rhythm was from a repeat of the same mating that produced Ch Shelt-E-Ain Black Knight.
Betty Whelen saw Reflection at a puppy match and bought him at three months of age. He was later purchased for a while by Isobel Robson, though Betty continued to keep and handle him. She described him as short-necked and short-tailed, but with an excellent coat, rich tan markings, and an exquisite head and expression, about 14 inches in height. He was used heavily on blues of Pocono breeding, and is behind most blue lines today. He sired 14 Champions, including one Register of Merit sire. He is in Line CHE Part IIb and Family 3B.

A comment on Eng/Am Ch Catmore Chum: This dog was not so much imported for breeding as sent to the USA for safety just prior to World War II. He does, however, appear in almost all modern American pedigrees through the influence of both Ch Shelt-E-Ain Reflection o'Knight ROM and Ch Nashcrest Golden Note ROM.
